Buying an apartment in Paris

Most Paris homes are apartments in shared buildings. That brings a few things to understand before making an offer.

Co-ownership

Buildings are run as a copropriété. Its rules and shared charges come with the apartment and are reviewed before you commit.

Measured surface

The Carrez law requires the private surface of an apartment in co-ownership to be stated precisely.

The building's records

Minutes of recent owners' meetings show planned works and how the building is managed.

Floor, light and lift

In Paris, the floor, the light, the lift and the outlook shape value as much as the square meters.
